You can download any clash matrix as an Excel workbook that mirrors the on-screen cross-tab — ideal for sharing the coordination standard with people who don't use ClashWise, attaching to BIM execution plans, or printing for coordination meetings.
Where to find it
- Sign in at https://clashwise.ai and open Clash matrices.
- Open the matrix and switch to the matrix (cross-tab) view using the view toggle.
- In the toolbar, click Download detailed matrix.
The file downloads as "{matrix name}.xlsx".
What the workbook contains
The workbook mirrors the cross-tab exactly as you see it on screen:
- Disciplines (or categories) on both axes, in the same symmetric layout — the upper triangle and diagonal carry the data, and the lower half mirrors it with "x", just like the web view.
- Each cell shows the worst priority's order number among the rules in that discipline/category pair.
- Each cell is filled with that priority's configured color — the exact hex color you set in the priorities editor.
Color fidelity is a product rule in ClashWise: the priority editor, the on-screen matrix, and the Excel export always agree, because they all use the same configured hex color. What your team sees in the meeting handout is what they see in the app.
Tips
- Before exporting, use the matrix-view toggles to set the axis you want (discipline pairs vs. category pairs) — the export mirrors the on-screen cross-tab.
- If the exported colors don't match your company palette, fix them at the source: edit each priority's color (More → Manage priorities…) and download again. Never recolor the spreadsheet by hand — the next export would overwrite your edits.
- Pair the export with the sample-style rule documentation your team keeps in project standards, so the numbers in the grid are backed by written rule definitions.
Limitations
- The export is the cross-tab summary (worst priority per pair). It is not a row-by-row dump of every rule with tolerances, contacts, and tags — for detailed rule review, use the table view in the app.
- The workbook is a snapshot: it does not update when the matrix changes. Re-download after significant edits.
- Exports of clashes (Excel/CSV/BCF) are a separate feature on the clash grid — see the Reports & Exports section.
