Troubleshooting and FAQ

Solutions to the most common issues with AI clash naming (Enhance), followed by frequently asked questions.

Troubleshooting

"Please log in to use this tool."

You are not signed in. Click Login on the ClashWiseAI ribbon tab and sign in with your ClashWise account. Accounts are created on the web at https://clashwise.ai.

A subscription message blocks the run

"Required Property Mappings Missing"

One or more models in your document do not have all their property fields mapped. Click OK to jump to the Property Mapping Configuration tab, select each model in the Model File: dropdown, and complete the mappings. See the Property Mapping section for step-by-step help.

"Document Not Saved"

Your Navisworks file has never been saved. Save it (File > Save) and run Enhance again.

"Local AI setup required"

No local AI model is downloaded yet. The AI Models window opens automatically — download the Recommended model (about 1 GB), click Use, and close the window. See the Local AI Models article.

The Start button is disabled

Start only enables when both conditions are met:

  1. At least one clash test is ticked on the Clash Tests tab, and
  2. Every model listed in Property Mapping Configuration has all six property fields mapped.

A clash test shows "Not yet performed"

The test exists but has never been run, so there are no results to name. Run it in Navisworks Clash Detective first.

Titles are incomplete or low quality

Title quality depends on the element data ClashWise can read:

  1. Check the Property Mapping Configuration tab — make sure each model's fields point at the right properties, and use Preview to verify by clicking elements in the model.
  2. Check the source models themselves — if they lack level, type, or discipline information, the titles cannot include it.
  3. Try a more detailed naming standard (for example Detailed Descriptive), or a larger AI model (see the Local AI Models article).

Titles are in the wrong language

On the Settings tab, check the Language dropdown. Current Culture follows your Navisworks display language; pick a specific language if you want something else. Also confirm your active AI model supports that language (shown on its row in the AI Models window).

Processing is slow

An internet connection is not what makes naming fast or slow — generation happens locally on your machine.

"Monthly Clashes Limit" messages (trial accounts)

Trial accounts have a monthly clash allowance for naming, shown as a counter in the Enhance window footer. If a run is blocked because the limit is reached or would be exceeded, wait for the monthly reset or subscribe to a paid plan — paid naming is unlimited.

A generic error appears

"An error occurred while processing clash updates. Please try again or contact support if the issue persists." — try the run again. If it keeps failing, report it from the ribbon: Support panel → Report Bug (Alt+6). Your plugin logs are attached automatically. You can also email support@clashwise.ai.

FAQ

Q: Does my model data leave my computer? A: Not for naming. Clash titles are generated by a local AI model running on your own PC — element names, file names, and clash data stay on your machine. An internet connection is only used for signing in, verifying your subscription, and downloading AI models.

Q: Do I need an internet connection to name clashes? A: No. After you have signed in once and downloaded a model, naming works fully offline. You will be asked to reconnect briefly if you stay offline longer than 14 days, so your subscription can be re-verified.

Q: Is there a limit to how many clashes I can name? A: On a paid plan, no — local naming is unlimited and does not consume Wise actions or any other allowance. Trial accounts have a monthly clash allowance, shown in the Enhance window footer.

Q: Can I edit clash titles in the ClashWise web app? A: No. Clash titles are created and edited only in the Navisworks plugin. If you rename clashes after publishing a set, publish an update to bring the new titles to the web.

Q: How do I undo a naming run? A: Press Ctrl+Z once in Navisworks. The whole run — even a partially completed, cancelled one — is a single undo step.

Q: Will Enhance overwrite titles I already updated? A: Not by default — previously updated clashes are skipped. Tick Include Previously Updated Clashes on the Settings tab to re-process them, for example after changing your naming standard or language.

Q: Can I keep the original clash names? A: Yes, two ways: enable Include Original Clash Title to keep the original name as a prefix, or choose Description or Comments as the Update Option so the AI text is written there and titles stay untouched.

Q: Can it rename clash groups? A: Yes. On the Settings tab, set Apply To: to Individual clashes and group titles or Group titles only. Group names follow the format {N} Clashes - {title}.

Q: Why does property mapping matter so much? A: Different authoring tools (Revit, AutoCAD, IFC, Tekla, and others) and different languages store element data in different places. Property Mapping tells ClashWise exactly where to find names, IDs, categories, levels, types, and disciplines — the raw material of every title. See the Property Mapping section.

Q: Which Navisworks versions are supported? A: Autodesk Navisworks Manage 2024–2027 on Windows.
