Web Clash Management FAQ

Quick answers to the questions we hear most about managing clashes on the ClashWise web app.

Why can't I edit clash titles on the web?

By design. Clash titles come from your Navisworks model, and renaming clashes is a local action performed in the ClashWise plug-in inside Navisworks (including AI naming with Enhance). On the web, titles are read-only everywhere — the grid, the details dialog, the 3D viewer.

What you can edit on the web: the recommended status, recommended priority, responsible contact, due date, and tags. Those are coordination fields that live in ClashWise; the plug-in's Sync feature can later write agreed values back into Navisworks.

How do I create a clash set on the web?

You can't — and that's intentional. Clash sets are only created by publishing from the ClashWise plug-in in Navisworks: run your clash tests in Clash Detective, then publish the results. ClashWise manages and analyzes clashes; it does not detect them and the web app cannot create them. See the Publish, Update & Sync Clash Sets section.

Why don't I see the Recommendations columns?

The Recommendations column group (Matched Rule, recommended Priority and Status, Responsible Contact) only appears when a clash matrix is assigned to the set. Assign one from the matrix dropdown in the set header, or click Generate matrix to build one from this set. Until then, recommended-field filters are hidden too, and Apply defaults… is disabled.

What is the # number on every clash, and can it change?

Clash #N is the clash's permanent identity within its set. It never changes and can't be edited — which is why deep links, shares, and meeting notes all lead with it. If you need to reference a clash, use its number.

Why can't I run analysis on my saved view?

Saved filtered views are live windows onto their parent set, not independent sets. A view has no matrix of its own (its header shows MATRIX INHERITED FROM PARENT) and analysis can't run on it. Run analysis on the parent set; the view reflects the results automatically.

What do the icons next to clash titles mean?

What does the ✨ icon on the Matched Rule mean?

One or both of the clash's element classifications were AI-inferred rather than read directly from your model data. The ⟳ warning on the same column means the matrix was edited after the analysis ran — re-run analysis to refresh the recommendations.

A clash says "No matching rule found" — what now?

Your matrix has no rule covering that element pairing. Open the matrix, add or adjust coverage for the pairing, and re-run analysis. These warnings are useful — they map exactly where your rulebook has gaps.

Can I undo Clear analysis?

No. Clear analysis… permanently removes recommended priorities, statuses and contacts, matched rules, summaries, and analysis dates — including edits you made by hand. The confirmation says so explicitly. If you just want fresher results, re-run analysis instead; that preserves manually locked clashes.

Does editing clashes on the web change my Navisworks model?

No. Everything you edit on the web stays in ClashWise. Your model and clash tests are only updated when you deliberately run Sync from the plug-in inside Navisworks, which pulls agreed statuses, priorities, assignments, and comments back into the model.

Why is everything suddenly read-only?

If your organization's trial has ended or its subscription is inactive, ClashWise switches to read-only mode: you can still view and export your data, but edits, deletions, and license changes are blocked. An organization admin can restore full access by upgrading — see the Account, Plans & Billing section.

Why does the filter dialog tell me to re-publish my set?

The message "Re-publish this set with the latest plug-in to filter on all properties" means the set was published before full property indexing existed. Publish it again from Navisworks with the current plug-in and the All properties filters become available.

What does the LIVE badge on a clash set mean?

A coordination session is currently running on that set. Click the badge to get to the live session. See the Coordination Sessions section.

How many clashes can I open in 3D at once?

The 3D viewer shows up to 1,000 clashes per scene. Above 150 it nudges you to focus the scene — grouping or filtering first, then using View filtered in 3D or a group header's View this group in 3D button, gives a smoother review. Note that 3D viewing requires the set to have been published with 3D capture enabled.

What's the search syntax again?

The universal search box supports AND / OR / NOT, * wildcards, and quoted phrases — for example: Critical AND wall*, door OR window NOT wall, "exact phrase". For anything more structured, open Filter and describe what you want in plain language (AI smart filter) or build conditions by hand.

Can I delete individual clashes from the grid?

No — the web grid doesn't delete individual clashes. You can delete an entire clash set (from the More menu or the sidebar bulk bar), or use filters, tags, and views to keep irrelevant clashes out of sight. The set's contents are controlled by what you publish and update from Navisworks.
