Every user tunes their own notifications: how often each category emails you, whether it shows in your in-app feed, and which clash sets you've muted entirely. Your settings override your organization's defaults — except where an admin has hard-disabled a category org-wide.
Where to find it
Open your profile at https://clashwise.ai/my/profile and scroll to Clash notifications, below your email preferences. You can also change everything conversationally through Wise — "switch me to a weekly digest", "mute set 12 for me" (see Notifications with Wise in this section).
Per-category settings
Each of the four categories — Assignments, Due dates, Activity on my sets, and Coordination sessions — has:
- An email cadence: Immediate, Hourly, Daily digest, Weekly digest, or No email.
- An in-app toggle: whether the category appears in your bell and feed.
Until you change a category it inherits your organization's default (shown in the selector). Once you pick a value it's yours — later changes to the org default won't move it.
Digest timing follows your profile time zone: daily digests arrive around 08:00 local time, weekly digests Monday morning. If you haven't set a time zone, times are UTC.
Muting a clash set for yourself
A personal mute silences everything about one clash set — all categories, email and in-app — for you only. Other people's notifications are unaffected.
- Ask Wise: "mute set 12 for me" (and "unmute set 12" to undo).
- Your muted sets appear as chips in the profile section — remove a chip to unmute.
Use it for sets you're peripherally involved in, archived phases, or test publishes that keep re-analyzing.
Set-wide muting (owners and admins)
Separately from personal mutes, a set's owner or an organization admin can mute the whole set for everyone — no events are recorded at all while it's muted, and any secure links previously emailed to external contacts stop working for as long as the mute is on. Use it for test sets and retired models. Muting a set does not backfill notifications when unmuted — silence means silence.
How your settings combine with the organization's
Resolution runs top-down; the first "off" wins:
- Organization master switch and per-category hard-disable (admin) — nothing can re-enable these.
- Set-wide mute (owner/admin).
- Your personal set mutes.
- Your per-category cadence and channel choices.
- Otherwise, the organization's category default applies.
Categories an admin hard-disabled render greyed in your profile with a note — your selection is kept but inactive until the admin re-enables the category.
One important interplay: operational emails
The Operational emails switch in your email preferences (and the unsubscribe-from-all switch) sits above everything: if it's off, no notification emails are sent at all, whatever cadences say below it. The profile section shows a warning when this is the case. Your in-app feed keeps working regardless — it's not email.
Tips
- Digest cadences are per category — many people keep Assignments immediate and set everything else to Daily.
- Turning a category's email to No email but leaving in-app on is a great low-noise mode if you're in the app daily.
- Unsubscribing from a notification email (every email has an unsubscribe link) turns off operational emails broadly — prefer tuning cadences here instead if you only want less, not none.
FAQs
Do my settings affect what my teammates receive? No. Preferences and personal mutes are strictly per user.
I muted a set, then unmuted it. Did I miss anything? Events that occurred while muted were not recorded for you and won't appear retroactively.
Why is a category greyed out? Your organization admin has hard-disabled it org-wide. Ask them to re-enable it on the organization settings page.
Why am I getting no notification emails despite everything being on? Check the Operational emails switch in your email preferences — if it (or unsubscribe-from-all) is off, notification emails are paused entirely. The warning banner in the Clash notifications section tells you when this is happening.
