ClashWise can generate a formatted, shareable PDF report over the clashes in a set — complete with a cover page, a summary table, and detailed per-clash pages with viewpoint images. Use it when you need a polished document for a coordination meeting, a client update, or a project record, rather than raw data.
Why generate a PDF report?
- Meeting-ready — a readable document you can present or print, instead of a spreadsheet.
- Self-contained — recipients need nothing but a PDF reader; no ClashWise account, no model.
- Focused — scope the report to your current filter or selection so it covers exactly the clashes under discussion.
Who can generate reports?
Any signed-in user who can open the clash set on the web. Report generation works even when your organization is in read-only mode — read-only blocks editing, not viewing or exporting.
Where to find it
- Open your clash set from the Clash Sets page.
- On the clash grid toolbar, open the More menu.
- Choose Report (PDF)….
This opens the Generate PDF report dialog: "Build a shareable PDF over the clashes in scope. Filters and selections from the grid carry over."
How to generate a report
- Prepare the grid first (optional). Apply a filter or select specific clashes before opening the dialog — they carry over as scope options.
- Open More → Report (PDF)….
- Pick a Scope: All clashes in this set, Matching current filter, or Selected clashes.
- Choose which Sections to include (see below).
- Fill in the Cover text — a report Title and an Intro note for the cover page.
- Pick the Columns for the summary table, and set the Status & Priority values toggle if you want the matrix's recommended values instead of each clash's applied values.
- Choose the Per-clash detail content you want on each clash's page.
- Generate the report.
Sections
- Cover page — the report title and intro note you entered.
- Summary table — one row per clash, using the columns you picked. Column selections are remembered per clash set, and Reset restores the defaults.
- Per-clash detail — a detailed entry for each clash. You choose what each entry includes:
- the clash's viewpoint image,
- About matched rule — context about the matrix rule the clash matched,
- Comments, and
- Review provenance — who reviewed or changed the clash.
- AI summary (coming soon) — this section appears in the dialog but is disabled; the UI labels it "coming soon". It can't be selected yet.
What happens next
The report downloads directly, with live progress shown while it builds: Queued…, Rendering report…, then Finishing…. A Cancel run button lets you stop a report mid-generation. When it completes you'll see a confirmation — Report downloaded — {file} — and the PDF lands in your browser's downloads.
Reports are browser downloads only — ClashWise does not email them.
Tips
- Scope down for meetings. A report over "Matching current filter" — for example, this week's Critical clashes for one contact — is far more useful in a coordination meeting than a full-set dump.
- Summary-only for size. For very large sets, consider a report with the summary table but without per-clash detail — per-clash pages with viewpoint images make the PDF much larger.
- Use the matrix-values toggle to report what your clash matrix recommends for each clash, rather than the currently applied values.
- Lead with clash numbers. Include the Number column so readers can reference clash #N back in ClashWise.
FAQs
What is the "AI summary" section? It's a planned report section that is not available yet — the dialog shows it as "AI summary (coming soon)" and it can't be enabled.
Is this the same as the coordination session report? No. Coordination sessions have their own PDF report, generated from a session's minutes — it bundles attendees, reviewed clashes, notes, attachments, and the AI-generated minutes. See the Coordination Sessions section for details. The report described here is a general clash report over any scope you choose.
Can I get the report emailed to attendees? No. Reports download in your browser; share the file the way you'd share any document.
My analysis is still running — should I wait? If AI analysis is still in progress, results appear only for the clashes processed so far. For a complete picture, wait for the analysis to finish before generating the report.
Troubleshooting
- The report is taking a long time. Large scopes with per-clash detail and viewpoint images take longer to render — the progress states (Queued… / Rendering report… / Finishing…) show where it is. You can use Cancel run and retry with a smaller scope or fewer detail options.
- Viewpoint images are missing for some clashes. Images come from what was captured when the set was published from Navisworks; clashes without a captured viewpoint won't show one in the report.
Limitations
- The AI summary section is disabled ("coming soon").
- Delivery is by direct browser download only — no email delivery.
- The report is a snapshot: it reflects the clashes at the moment of generation and doesn't update afterwards.
